Overview

Fencing done properly

Fencing is one of the jobs we're asked to do most, and one of the most visible. A good fence gives privacy, keeps pets and children in, and defines your boundary cleanly. A poor one leans, rattles and blows down in the first big storm.

We build bespoke fences, 6ft box fencing and gates, including replacing hedges with fencing and working around established hedging and old fence lines.

Customers have mentioned how quickly we fitted them in and how sturdy the finished fence is. One 22-metre run of 6ft box fence was completed in just a few days despite challenging weather.

Who it's for

  • Homes with a leaning or storm-damaged fence
  • Gardens that need more privacy
  • Properties replacing an overgrown hedge with a fence
  • Holiday cottages needing a new boundary, fence and gate
What happens if it's left

The cost of getting it wrong

Storm damage

Weak posts and panels catch the wind and fail, usually at the worst possible time.

Leaning and rot

Posts set poorly in wet ground rot and lean, pulling the whole run out of line.

Lost privacy

Gaps and broken panels leave your garden overlooked and insecure.

Neighbour friction

A failing boundary fence quickly becomes a shared problem.

Common mistakes we see

  • Using lightweight panels in an exposed garden
  • Not setting posts deep and solid enough
  • Patching a failing run instead of replacing it properly
Our process

How it works, step by step

    Build & finish

The work itself, done by Harry and the team.

6ft box fencing

Box fencing gives a solid, private boundary with a clean modern look. We've installed long runs, including 22 metres of 6ft box fence, around existing fencing and established hedging.

Bespoke fences and gates

Not every boundary suits a standard panel. We build bespoke fences and matching gates, including front garden fence-and-gate combinations alongside new patios and steps.

Replacing hedges with fencing

Hedges take space and constant trimming. We've re-sited hedges and replaced them with bespoke fencing, keeping healthy plants where the customer wanted them.

Fencing in coastal gardens

Exposure is the biggest factor in Cornwall. We build with sturdiness in mind so your fence copes with strong winds rather than acting like a sail.

Planning guide

Planning your fencing project

Start with how you'll use the space

Before choosing materials, think about who will use the garden and when. A space for summer dining needs different sizing, shelter and access from a low-maintenance front garden or a holiday let that needs to look smart between guests. Tell us how you live and we'll shape the fencing around it.

Look honestly at the ground

Slope, soil, existing walls, hedges and drainage all affect what's possible and what it costs. In Cornwall, many gardens are steep, rocky or exposed to the coast. We assess all of this on our first visit so your quote reflects the real job: not a best-case guess that changes once work starts.

Think about the whole garden

Fencing rarely sits in isolation. It meets lawns, beds, boundaries, paths and steps. Planning these together avoids the cost of reworking levels or access later, and gives you a garden that feels designed rather than added to piece by piece.

Why Sea Green

What our customers tell us

Across 13 five-star Google reviews, the same themes come up again and again: punctuality, quick responses, professionalism, quality workmanship, detailed quotes and creative design ideas, and an ability to handle difficult sites such as steep slopes and coastal gardens.

Harry Lyall runs every job, working alongside his colleague Matt. You deal with the people doing the work, from the first visit to the finished garden, so nothing gets lost between the quote and the build.

Every fencing job is covered by a full written contract and a warranty, typically 2 years, confirmed in writing for your specific job, and by our employer's and public liability insurance. You know what's included, what it costs and what happens if anything isn't right.
